- Provide overall direction and oversight regarding safety for the company.
- Implement and enforce company safety programs and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate and implement OSHA, MSHA, EPA, ANSI, DOT, and other federal, state, and local safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and programs to maintain a safe work environment for all employees, locations, job sites, and vehicles.
- Conduct and manage safety training programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
- Oversee and manage in-person best practice recommendations and technical assistance for field personnel.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with field personnel, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Collaborate with clients, general contractors, and site managers to address site issues.
- Perform and oversee site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with company safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Respond to emergencies involving injuries or significant hazards, preparing reports and recommendations.
- Oversee handling of recordable injuries, work-related incidents, and insurance claims with the Safety Coordinator.
- Manage return-to-work and modified duty claims.
- Investigate and analyze incidents to identify causes and prevent future accidents (Root Cause Analysis).
- Recommend measures to protect workers from hazardous conditions, methods, processes, or equipment.
- Mentor field supervisors and project managers on safe work procedures and job site hazard assessments.
- Revise, update, and maintain the safety manual.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or similar background with a comparable combination of relevant experience and education.
- 3-5+ years of experience in a professional safety role; proven successful experience in construction preferred.
- Experience writing Health and Safety Plans and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA's).
- Experience performing safety inspections ensuring compliance with OSHA.
- Experience evaluating hazards in a construction environment, controls, and monitor effectiveness.
- Professional certification with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) preferred.
- 30-hour OSHA certification required.
- Ability to coordinate and deliver applicable safety training.
- OSHA 500 certification or the ability to obtain the certification within the first 90 days of employment.
- Strong written / verbal skills with strong interpersonal skills.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Ability to travel as needed, which could include extended driving and minimal overnight stays.
SOFTWARE:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Training in corporate safety systems will be provided.
