Position Overview
The Utility Pole Inspection Project Manager is a leadership position responsible for overseeing multiple forepersons and their crews to ensure that projects meet safety, quality, production, and compliance metrics across a designated region. This role involves resource allocation, field leadership, and performance management, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest standards. The Project Manager serves as a liaison between Senior Project Managers, leadership, clients, and field teams, while maintaining a hands-on understanding of field operations. This Manager will oversee utility infrastructure inspection and restoration field-based projects and will have past career experience in this field.
Job Duties
- Plan, organize, and execute projects to meet client scope while staying within budget and time constraints while meeting/exceeding quality expectations
- Collaborates with field operations, other managers, and support staff to deliver successful projects
- Organize workflow to improve efficiency
- Update deliverables to reflect project progress and changes
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date reporting
- Ensure the project meets metrics related to safety, quality, production, and compliance
- Carry out safety inspections to verify compliance with safety regulations and company policies
- Conducts onsite field visits to inquire, observe, and identify challenges to improve processes
- Track and approve team's time and attendance, hours reporting, and accuracy
- Provide and support employees' on-the-job training and ongoing skill development
- Work with senior leadership to recommend promotions, merit increases, or other compensation changes
- Address conflicts and facilitate resolutions in alignment with company policies, ensuring proper documentation and follow-through
- Manage disciplinary actions and terminations professionally, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal requirements
- Manage the travel and lodging needs for direct reports
- Update production reports and forecasts on estimated project dates
- Conduct daily QC inspections to ensure utility infrastructure inspection and restoration work complies with project specifications and standards
- Ensure the proper care and maintenance of any vehicle and equipment assigned including regular inspections, maintenance checks, and prompt reporting of any issues to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel
- React safely and appropriately in emergency situations
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively 75-100% as required by project demands
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and work rules
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Proven manager experience, preferably in utility infrastructure, construction, or a related field
- Strong understanding of utility infrastructure inspection and restoration practices, safety standards, and client requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team management and client relations
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, influence, and direct team members. Exhibits a growth mindset of continuous improvement and learning
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work with limited direct supervision
- Understanding of operations, processes, and standards in the utility industry or related field
- Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, anticipate consequences, and implement resources
- Apply understanding to carry out detailed instructions. Identify, address, and resolve problems in varied situations

- Exposure to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind
- Working in diverse environments such as roadways, fields, forests, remote, or urban areas
- Standing, walking, and working on uneven terrain for extended periods
- Working in noisy and potentially hazardous environments, requiring adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Exposure to dust, dirt, and other environmental elements
- Regularly traveling to multiple job sites with frequent overnight accommodations
