Provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of environmental projects and clients. This may include performing and/or leading environmental site investigations, engineering analysis, calculations and recommendations, design and development of remediation plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided. Identify, evaluate and recommend risk and remediation strategies/designs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Prepare applicable permit applications, risk assessments, and other technical documents including proposals, reports and/or regulatory agency correspondence. Apply sound engineering principles and be able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams. Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Provide and lead continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor and promote quality standards and practices.
- Provide consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
- Career level, fully competent environmental engineering professional.
- Independently performs a variety projects or selected segments of larger projects.
- Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work.
- Works closely with senior-level project managers to gain additional project management experience for more complex and larger projects.
- May devise new approaches to problems encountered.
- May serve as a team leader in medium projects and mentor junior level scientists/engineers.
- Performs complex scientific analyses on projects of own discipline.
- May attend on and off-site client meetings.
- Implements technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.
- Responsible for developing written proposals to clients for both small and large projects including quality control review of proposals written by others.
- Evaluates complex laboratory and field data and assembles in written reports.
- Experience with various regulatory agencies, including the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
- Previous engagement and/or management within the FDEP Waste Cleanup Program and/or Petroleum Restoration Program is preferred.
- Experience developing Site Assessment Reports, Remedial Action Plans, and other regulatory deliverables pursuant to Chapter 62-780, FAC and other Florida cleanup rules.
- Experience related to PFAS sampling, sampling, and remediation is preferred.
- Work under the supervision of a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer (APR) and licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
- Begin documented mentoring and application process for Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer certification.
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or related degree.
- Minimum 5-8 years experience.
- Masters degree in Environmental Engineering preferred.
- Valid drivers license with acceptable violation history.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the State of Florida or ability to obtain within 6 months.
