The I&E technician installs, commissions, troubleshoots and repairspower plant instrumentation, low and medium voltage electrical, andcontrol systems. The newest member of the team must be able to adapt toshifting priorities and tasks, demonstrate a proactive approach to workassignments and possess strong communication and listening skills.Platte River is seeking to hire one individual for placement as either a levelI or II technician. Level II technicians are assigned additionalresponsibilities, may be asked to step in for the supervisor or planner asneeded, and are subject to DOT-PHMSA regulation and random drug testing.Our ideal candidate brings a positive, team mentality to work and thrives inan environment where there is variety in duties and tasks, demonstrates acontinuous interest in learning and remains adaptable to change.Apply online via Platte River's careers site no later than Thursday, May29 at 5:00 pm.**** WORK HOURS AND ENVIRONMENT ****This is an onsite role that reports to Platte River's Rawhide Energy Stationlocated north of Wellington, CO and works four 10-hour shifts (Mondaythrough Thursday, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm). After-hours and overtime workis scheduled on an as-needed basis.Physical requirements include moderate to considerable effort includingworking from ladders in awkward positions or at heights, using light ormedium-weight objects and tools weighing 25 to 50 pounds.**** ESSENTIAL DUTIES ****- Models the mission, vision, values, and culture of the organization.- Performs troubleshooting and maintenance of plant control systems inaccordance with established plant and industry guidelines to ensure maximumsafety, availability, and reliability of the generating units.- Cooperatively works with other technicians as well as engineering,maintenance, and operations departments regarding technical issues andprocedures, schedules, maintenance items, and equipment status.- Follows formal work process pertaining to maintenance tasks.- Works to maintain management and departmental commitments concerningequipment status, plant efficiency, and unit reliability.- Performs preventative and corrective maintenance of industrial controlsystems such as low and medium voltage single and three phase electricaldistribution systems up to 35 kV, process, and analytical devicecalibrations such as switches and transmitters, pneumatic and hydraulicrepairs, valve, and damper drives.- Interprets and troubleshoots relay logic and motor controls.- Troubleshoots and maintains computer control systems such as PLC and DCS.Additional responsibilities for level II technicians:- Leads troubleshooting, maintenance of plant control systems, andsmall projects.- May fill in for the supervisor or planner on an as-needed basis.**** OTHER FUNCTIONS ****- Works overtime and extended hours on nights and weekends as operationalneeds dictate.- Level II technicians are subject to regulation by the U.S. Department ofTransportation (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials SafetyAdministration (PHMSA).- Performs other duties as assigned.**** KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES *****- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, piping and instrumentdiagrams, SAMA drawings, and control loops.- Ability to use basic hand tools and test equipment used in theinstrumentation and electrical field.- Knowledge of medium voltage switchgear relays and test equipment.- Knowledge of safety principles and policies in an industrial work setting.- Ability to establish work priorities and work with minimal supervision.- Strong computer, analytical and writing skills.- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control problems involvinginstrumentation, low, and medium voltage electrical equipment.- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to fosterrelationships on a regular basis with key stakeholders.- Experi nce utilizing work management or computerized maintenance managementsystems.- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite on computers in Windowsenvironment.**** HOW TO QUALIFY ****AT MINIMUM:- 4 years of experience in instrumentation, controls, or electricalsystems in a power plant, chemical facility, or other industrialoperations environment.Associate degree in electricity, electronics, or related field;completion of a certified apprenticeship in a related field; or anequivalent combination of education and work experience.- Current valid driver's license plus ability to remain insurable under acompany vehicle liability policy and be subject to random drug screening underDOT requirements as a commercial motor vehicle driver or PHMSA employee.IDEAL EXPERIENCE OR CERTIFICATIONS:- 3+ years in operating/troubleshooting/repairing motor starters,circuit breakers, low/medium voltage switchgear.- 3+ years in troubleshooting and repair of Emerson Ovation DCS orAllen-Bradley PLC.- Valid State of Colorado journeyman or master electrician license(reciprocity from another state may be considered).- Valid ISA level 1 or 2 CCST certification.**** PAY ****
