As a member of the team at Detroit Salt, you will contribute to maintaining our company's efficient mining process and enriching our workforce.***Job Summary:**Detroit Salt Company is seeking a Diesel Mechanic that will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting heavy mining equipment, such as haul trucks, loaders, drills, and conveyors. Your expertise will ensure that our fleet and machinery are operating at peak performance, contributing to the smooth and safe extraction of salt. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and thrives in an industrial setting.**Duties and Responsibilities**- Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment, such as cranes, wheel loaders, haul trucks, conveyors, bulldozers, personnel transport vehicles, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools.- Operate and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear.- Weld broken parts and structural members.- Check and fill fluid levels, service lube points and performs routine preventative maintenance.```{=html}```- Inspect and perform daily routine housekeeping as necessary to ensure a clean and safe work area.- Complete assigned paperwork accurately and turn in work log at the end of each shift.- Work safely, responsibly and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Is alert to hazards and changing conditions on all mine property.- Complete assigned paperwork accurately and turn in work log at the end of each shift.- Must be able to cross-train and multi-task with varied skill sets and functions.- Must be able to perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task.- Complete assigned paperwork accurately and turn in work log at the end of each shift.- Communicate with supervisor and others as warranted, regarding the safe completion of assigned tasks.- Communicate with management any situation that may affect safety of any employee or other issues that affect production or quality of product.- Trouble shoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems in a timely and craftsmanship like manner.- Utilize technical drawing and testing equipment.- Obtain replacement parts, install and/or make repairs.- Performs other duties as assigned. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**High school diploma/ GED required.1-year CAT SIS Program experience preferred.2-4 years of experience working in an industrial shop or mining environment required.2-4 years heavy equipment mechanic experience required.Dependable -- more reliable than spontaneous.Must be familiar with some but not limited to the following types of equipment, sub-systems, support equipment and related systems: cranes, loaders, haul trucks, conveyors, bulldozers, personnel transport vehicles, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools.Able to operate vehicles and equipment for testing and troubleshooting before and after performing maintenance activitiesCapable of repairing equipment to OEM standards.Must be able to diagnose sys
