Job Summary:

The Health, Safety and Environmental Manager provides safety leadership, ensures operational compliance with safety standards, implements safety directives, assists management to improve safety performance, and helps align safety policies and procedures with regulations. This position supports departments and subcontractor

Responsibilities

1. Develop and support creation of a strategy of safety and compliance strategic goals.

2. Ensure safety coordinators and site management have the appropriate activity-based goals for the leadership team, managers, and supervisors, to drive the safety culture, compliance, and results.

3. Supervise, lead, and mentor safety coordinators and compliance support staff in planning and scheduling.

4. Recommend and implement effective safety and compliance programs and policies designed to meet operational goals to reduce injuries and incidents.

5. Communicate safety and compliance strategy and objectives to leadership.

6. Support Safety Coordinators and site management in the implementation of safety and compliance programs or policies.

7. Determine and review effective metrics to track progress, proactively identify areas of concern, and drive accountability.

8. Maintain and apply knowledge of an effective Occupational, Health & Safety Management System.

9. Liaise with external vendors to manage hazardous waste hotline, SDS system, waste collection, and disposal program.

10. Implement audit tracks and identify gaps in local operational compliance with corporate safety policies and procedures.

11. Lead or direct incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans.

12. Facilitate supervisor and management training on root cause analysis.

13. Assist operational management in ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies.

14. Monitor, interpret and communicate regulatory and policy changes to management.

15. Display strong problem-solving skills, organizational skills and analytical skills

16. Demonstrate professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader.

17. Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.

18. Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.

19. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications

1. An Associates degree or equivalent.

2. Five (5) years related supervisory experience in a safety role.

3. Working knowledge of the construction and/or electrical industry.

4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

6. Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for projects plans.

7. Ability to think strategically and provide strong leadership.

8. Strong knowledge of applicable regulations.

9. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

10. Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.

11. Valid US Drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications

1. A Bachelors degree in related field of study.

2. OSHA 10 and 30 Certifications.

3. Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Certifications, such as ASP or CSP.

4. Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP)

This job often operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
