Senior Project Engineer (Geotechnical) (New York, NY) Perform complex analyses for specific portions of broader engineering projects. Maintain technical knowledge necessary to perform complex analyses. Responsible for making correct interpretations of findings and confirming that data collections and lab analyses are completed correctly, timely, and on budget. Lead the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, and designs for projects. Develop task and project budgets and schedules and perform task and project administrative activities, including preparing progress reports and reviewing project billings. Prepare draft change orders. Perform and manage multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines. Monitor budgets, schedules, and project timelines. Minimize write-offs by keeping projects on budget. Prepare invoices, project billings, and assists in payment collections. Manage multiple projects with different deadlines and development budgets and schedules. Supervise, review, and approve the work of project staff. As relevant, provide technical guidance to projects and employees within the geotechnical discipline; provide final technical review of calculations, analyses and project reports. Lead the development of strategies and designs for meeting client objectives and carrying out projects. Demonstrate competency in areas of supervision and project management and participate in internal and external project management training. Interacts extensively and builds strong relationships with client, contractor or subcontractor representatives. Demonstrates a strong commitment to customer service and responsiveness to client needs. Participate in the identification and pursuit of new clients, prepare proposals, develop additional work within an existing project, and attend business development meetings with new and existing clients. Involved in contractual negotiations under direction of Associate, Senior Associate or Principal. Mentor, train, and motivate staff. Participate in interviewing and hiring staff. Partial virtual / work from home benefit available. Requires a Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, 3 years of geotechnical engineering experience, and PE licensure or Registered Geologist certification (or a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience, and PE Licensure or Registered Geologist certification). All qualifying experience must include: field experience with geotechnical investigations and construction observation experience including mass grading, deep foundations, subgrade for footings, ground improvement, and excavation support including tieback/tiedown/soil nail installation and testing; office experience with investigation and field work coordination, geotechnical reports, and specification writing; field experience in earthwork, driven and drilled pile construction, load testing, footings subgrade and backfill inspection, ground improvements, retaining wall design and construction, and excavation support system design and inspection. Base annual salary: $139,214 - $171,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. This position is also eligible for straight-time overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program.
