BASIC FUNCTION The basic function of the Engineer is to create complete design packages, starting from the initial customer visit through high-level design concepts, while collaborating with the project manager, customer, and development team. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The Engineer reports to the VP of Project Development. The refrigeration engineer will work closely with Project Management and Drafting Personnel. REQUIREMENTS Education: BSME or equivalent. Experience: Two or more years' experience in project engineering. Certification: Capable of obtaining the necessary license to perform work in the states in which bidding jobs are required. Must have a valid driver's license. Current PE Licensure or ability/plan to obtain the license. Be proficient and have working knowledge of Auto CAD, Revit, and other design software. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities of the Engineer include, but are not limited to: Apply refrigeration principles, research industry data, and perform engineering calculations to ensure designs meet customer requirements and our high standard of quality. Evaluate existing systems to determine project needs. Work with equipment suppliers to select refrigeration equipment that meets project and customer requirements. Prepares or directs the preparation of system layout and detailed drawings and schematics' Develop new design schematics including valve selection, piping arrangements, and line sizes. Develop and/or update PSM documentation. Design custom industrial refrigeration solutions within industry regulations and building code requirements. Oversee the project design from beginning to end, working closely with the drafters and project managers to ensure a quality design is generated and understood. Attend meetings, as required, while providing expert solutions as problems arise. Provide support and engineering expertise to the estimating team during the bidding phase of a project. Provide ongoing support and engineering expertise to all designers and CAD operators. WORKING CONDITIONS The Engineer will generally work in a controlled office environment at R. E. Lewis Refrigeration facilities or at customer sites. Visits to job sites will include exposure to: Work on the building exterior, including the roof and exterior walls. Working in building interiors, including but not limited to areas which may be classified as freezers and /or refrigerated with extreme cold temperatures.
