Traveling Federal Project Manager

Job Description

The primary role of the Project Manager is to oversee all project aspects, ensuring overall project success, financial management, and client satisfaction. The Project Manager will manage major portions of large projects or take full responsibility for smaller projects, while mentoring and coaching Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully manage project financials, including fee retention.
  • Develop skills to manage projects effectively.
  • Understand scope changes and perform quantity take-offs, pricing, and track project revisions.
  • Foster and build relationships with owners, design partners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Assist pursuit team in understanding prospective projects and requirements.
  • Research prospective clients and complete responses to RFQs and RFPs.
  • Participate in pursuit interviews and preconstruction meetings.
  • Ensure successful completion of QA/QC processes.
  • Understand project-specific workforce and vendor participation goals and incorporate them into project work plans.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and assist in estimating labor production, materials, and equipment.
  • Scope bid materials and assist with creating CPM schedules.
  • Lead estimating and bidding processes, including updating estimates and subcontractor procurement.
  • Review and process subcontractor change requests and negotiate pricing.
  • Assist field staff with creating and updating CPM scheduling.
  • Lead project document page turn reviews and manage RFI process.
  • Manage sustainability requirements and documentation.
  • Maintain understanding of subcontractor scope and process subcontractor invoices.
  • Manage distribution and pricing of project changes and track labor costs.
  • Conduct construction coordination meetings and attend project safety meetings.
  • Oversee punchlist process and support close-out team in gathering final documentation.
  • Participate in business development activities and foster relationships with clients and subcontractors.
  • Attend relevant training and participate in company-sponsored events.
Essential Skills
  • Project management experience, particularly on federal projects.
  • Experience with GSA, USACE, and NAVFAC projects.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to function as an integral team member under time constraints.
  • Strong problem-solving and resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other computer skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Four-year degree in Construction Management or related field.
  • 5+ years of related experience, including self-perform capabilities.
  • Estimating and field experience is a plus.
  • Scheduling experience preferred.
Work Environment

This position requires working on-site on federal construction projects, with frequent travel required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
