The Market Development Manager is responsible for increasing market share and brand preference of Kohler residential home generator products. This role involves actively prospecting new business opportunities, developing targeted strategies, establishing program agreements, and driving product sales for a particular sales region.
Specific responsibilities:
- Market Analysis: Conduct thorough research to identify potential markets and customer segments for residential home generators.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement sales strategies to maximize market share and margin; motivate customers to prefer Kohler Home Energy products over competitors.
- Business Development: Expand the customer base by identifying new partners and developing new customer opportunities.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, including wholesaler, dealers, and industry influencers.
- Sales Support: Collaborate with the sales team to provide insights on market trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape.
- Product Promotion: Work closely with the marketing team to develop campaigns that effectively promote residential home generators to target audiences.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyze sales data to assess the effectiveness of market development strategies and make necessary adjustments.
- Training and Presentations: Conduct sales presentations and provide product training to partners and customers.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in business, marketing, communications or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 4 years of related field experience, preferably in the power generation, heavy equipment, or industrial equipment industries.
- Ability to travel 40% of the time.
Preferred:
- Analytical: Ability to analyze market data, identify trends and make data-driven decisions.
- Previous experience in sales, especially in an outside sales role, is highly desirable.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the industry in which the company operates can be beneficial.
- Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills for securing deals and building partnerships.
