Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Cybersecurity Architect to join our team and lead the design and delivery of secure OT and IT architectures for our clients. This position can be located in any of our offices in North America and offers the opportunity to work on diverse, high-impact projects that make a difference. GHD offers a flexible hybrid office/remote work schedule.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Translate Business Requirements : Understand, analyze, and translate business needs into secure architecture solutions that meet both operational goals and cybersecurity requirements.
- Design Secure OT/IT Architectures: Develop secure network and system architectures for OT and IT environments, including water/wastewater treatment, manufacturing, and building management systems, following standards like ISA/IEC 62443 and NIST frameworks.
- Analyze Needs & Risks : Identify solution needs, perform risk assessments, and provide architecture recommendations. Act as a key liaison to secure stakeholder buy-in and alignment.
- Lead Architectural Development: Oversee and maintain architectural blueprints. Guide the development, documentation, and refinement of designs, requirements, and technical deliverables.
- Drive Technical Delivery : Take initiative in leading the end-to-end delivery of security projects, from design to implementation, managing project plans and cross-functional teams.
- Identify, procure and implement Cybersecurity Controls : Identify required controls such as firewalls, gateways, segmentation, and secure remote access solutions to establish robust defense-in-depth. Develop cybersecurity specifications for submittal into procurement packages for bidding by prospective implementation teams.
- Engage with Clients: Serve as a trusted advisor, communicating complex security concepts clearly and building strong client relationships throughout project lifecycles.
- Assess Risk & Ensure Compliance: Perform OT/IT security assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend improvements to meet regulatory and industry standards.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with IT security, engineering, and operations teams to implement solutions that integrate smoothly with existing systems. Provide clear technical documentation, diagrams, and procedures.
- Foster Innovation: Stay current on emerging OT/IT cybersecurity threats and technologies. Recommend and evaluate new tools to strengthen security posture.
What you will bring to the Team
- 3+ years as a cybersecurity architect designing secure networks and systems, or:
- 5+ years of OT/IT solution architecture experience with a strong focus on security solution design
- Bachelors or Masters in Business Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GICSP, or ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Expert are highly valued.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of OT and IT systems, architectures, and configurations
- Hands-on experience designing secure networks, deploying security controls, and applying defense-in-depth strategies.
- Experience writing detailed technical specifications for cybersecurity contractors
- Standards & Frameworks:
- Familiarity with ISA/IEC 62443, NIST CSF, NIST 800-82, ISO 27001, NERC CIP, CIS Controls, MITRE ATT&CK, and ISO/IEC 27019
- Consulting & Client Skills:
- Proven client-facing or consulting experience, including requirements gathering, stakeholder influence, and delivery of clear technical recommendations.
- Experience coordinating with engineers to perform cybersecurity evaluations and recommend secure network designs for new and existing/legacy network architectures
- Leadership & Initiative:
- Demonstrated ability to lead architecture development, guide delivery teams, and own technical outcomes.
- Industry Versatility:
- Experience across multiple sectors is welcome; deep specialization in one industry is not required
- Remote Work Skills:
- Strong self-management, collaboration, and communication skills for a remote environment

Salary Range: $152,880 - $229,320 based on experience and location.
