Electrical Engineer - Hardware and Software Robotics

Position Summary:

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the creation of technical drawings, manufacturing work orders and detailed written instructions for the manufacture, assembly and installation of paint application systems involving robotic and flexible automation systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Motivated, self-directed individual capable of executing assigned tasks and solving problems in a professional manner
  • Demonstrated ability to provide project level leadership
  • Design electrical control circuits
  • Design conduit and cable tray systems
  • Develop electrical installation drawings for bid and build
  • Calculate and determine circuit loads
  • Create control panel layouts
  • Create work orders and/or purchase requests for manufacturing of assemblies and systems
  • Interacts with the modular build and installation department to provide technical solutions to problems
  • Commission installed designs
  • Troubleshoot electrical installation, both hardware and software
  • Maintain and update checkout documentation
  • Travel 20%

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or 5 years of equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering
  • 3 years of experience in industrial or automotive paint shops with robotic systems is a must
  • Capable of hands-on work
  • Detail oriented
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Proficient with AutoCAD
  • EPlan experience a plus
  • Experience with Quality Systems (e.g. ISO 9000, QS 9000, ISO 14001)
  • Experience with SAP and/or other Engineering Data Management systems is preferred
  • Capable of reading and creating industrial electrical engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of RIA 15.06 Robotic Safety Standards
  • Knowledgeable with ANSI standards
  • Knowledgeable with OSHA standards
  • Knowledgeable with NEC and NFPA33, NFPA496
  • Knowledgeable with industrial materials
  • Experience with Rockwell and/or Siemens PLCs
  • Fluent in either Spanish or German is a plus

Physical Demands

  • While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
