Duties Description Under the supervision of the Historic Site Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor Aide will be responsible for a broad range of maintenance duties and responsibilities at Johnson Hall State Historic Site. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Directly supervising seasonal maintenance staff and volunteers; scheduling work and assigning tasks as needed.
- Assisting with special events and programs at the historic site, setting up and taking down tents, tables, chairs, etc.
- Assisting the Site Manager in forecasting consumable needs for the operating season, i.e., restroom and cleaning supplies, filters, belts, blades, lubricants, etc.
- Providing the Site Manager with a monthly report of maintenance activities and equipment use reports, and assisting the Site Manager in reviewing and identifying maintenance and safety equipment needs.
- Monitoring and performing basic seasonal maintenance on heating and dehumidification systems, and performing monthly fire extinguisher inspections. Submitting a work order for annual inspection and cleaning,
- Performing scheduled preventive maintenance and service on all mowers, tractors, UTVs, as well as push mowers, trimmers, and chainsaws.
- Performing basic painting, plumbing, and carpentry as needed, and assisting regional skilled trades when they are working on-site.
- Update facility SDS, Haz Chemical list, Lock out-Tag out procedures.
- Maintaining and promoting a safe working environment by applying appropriate safety practices and procedures.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications No minimum qualification per Civil Service.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in maintaining and operating commercial groundskeeping equipment.
- Previous supervisory/leadership experience.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
- Basic computer skills
- Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and in a team.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons in a responsible and courteous manner.
- Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor, including medium-heavy lifting and using step ladders.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
