SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Director of Purchasing oversees the creation and implementation of strategic procurement strategies designed to enhance cost-effectiveness, quality, and efficiency across the supply chain. This position leads the purchasing team in areas such as sourcing, vendor management, contract negotiations, and procurement planning to ensure operational smoothness and consistency with company objectives. The Director collaborates closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and other essential stakeholders to promote data-informed purchasing decisions that increase productivity and profitability.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Guide the purchasing team in vendor sourcing, management, contract negotiation, and procurement planning to ensure seamless operations and alignment with company goals.
  • Design and implement strategic procurement strategies to enhance cost, quality, and efficiency and mitigate risk throughout the supply chain efficiency across the supply chain
  • Examine procurement data and market trends to uncover chances for cost savings and efficiency gains, all while upholding quality and service standards.
  • Engage in competitive negotiations to implement cost reduction strategies with the global supply chain, ensuring that both capacity and quality standards are satisfied.
  • Oversee supplier contracts and long-term agreements with selected suppliers to ensure alignment with market trends, supplier performance, and future business requirements.
  • Guides teams in recognizing opportunities to achieve goals related to reducing suppliers, creating value, enhancing the supply chain, and improving customer satisfaction.
  • Managing events across various categories crucial for achieving cost savings targets.
  • Seek chances for competitive bidding
  • Creates, oversees, assesses, and administers tooling logistics programs, which encompass operations coordination, planning, maintenance, and dispatching.
  • Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and other essential stakeholders to promote data-driven purchasing choices that improve productivity and profitability.
  • Identify, assess, and nurture relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts and agreements to obtain favorable terms and ensure that supplier performance aligns with company standards.
  • Initiate efforts to refine purchasing processes, standardize procurement policies, and upgrade purchasing systems, aiming to optimize operations and ensure compliance.
  • Build, develop, and guide a top-performing purchasing team, nurturing a culture focused on results and data-driven decision-making.
  • Guarantee compliance with all regulatory standards, company policies, and industry best practices regarding procurement and supplier management.
  • Employ Lean and Six Sigma techniques to enhance processes in purchasing, supplier management, and cost control.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 7 years of experience
  • Committed to achieving high performance and success
  • Ability to successfully manage complexity and multiple priorities
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets, distill key insights into action, and create compelling business recommendations
  • Performs purchasing management operations that involve planning, coordinating, or evaluating the procurement actions required to support multiple tools
  • Knowledge of planning, programming, budgeting, and executing of purchasing and supply chain programs
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Availability to travel up to 50% of the time
