A Snapshot of Your Day

The Siemens Energy Grid Solutions Substation Design Engineering department comprises of professionals with experience in Primary, Secondary and Civil Engineering for detailed Engineering, Procurement and Construction Projects for Substations (Air Insulated Substations and Gas Insulated Switchgear substations), Data Centers and electrification projects. As part of the engineering team, you will work collaboratively throughout the life-cycle of a project to prepare and review detailed engineering documentation for bidding, procurement, design, construction and commissioning. Work location: Raleigh, North Carolina

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Leading a multidiscipline project team of engineers in developing physical, protection, and civil engineering packages for substation EPC projects.
  • Ensuring project engineering deliverables meet schedule and scope requirements, and communicating any risks in the engineering design project to the project manager.
  • Serving as the customer's point of contact to manage all technical topics of the EPC substation project, including technical construction and procurement topics.
  • Reviewing customer request for proposal documentation and identifying necessary exceptions, deviations, or clarifications.
  • Developing scope of work, Work Break-down Structure (WBS) documents, and high-level engineering execution plans for Siemens Energy engineering.
  • Managing interfaces with multiple internal and external stakeholders, monitoring/reporting project engineering progress, implementing mitigation and corrective actions, performing technical due diligence on supplier quotes, and attending site visits to gather information and support construction and commissioning.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree or higher
  • 5 or more years of experience working on substation projects. *Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa
  • Preferred requirements: Licensed Professional Engineer; Prior experience in Engineering Design for utility power projects
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Strong verbal and written skills in English and knowledge of ANSI and IEC standards
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
