Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and modeling 3D models for tanks and accessories using SolidWorks. They will coordinate projects with production, sales, and outside vendors, develop detailed test plans, and perform technical documentation including FEA using Ansys. The role requires a thorough understanding of standards such as ULC 1360 and MSR 61.

Responsibilities

• Design and modeling of 3D models for tanks and accessories using SolidWorks.
• Coordinate with production, sales, and outside vendors for project management.
• Develop detailed test plans and coordinate with QC and production to execute tests.
• Perform technical documentation and report writing, including FEA using Ansys.
• Ensure compliance with standards like ULC 1360 and MSR 61.

• SolidWorks 3D design experience for creating models of tanks and accessories.
• Project management or coordination experience, including working with production, sales, and outside vendors.
• Manufacturing experience, with experience working closely with the fabrication team.
• Technical documentation and report writing skills, with FEA experience using Ansys.
• Understanding of standards such as ULC 1360 and MSR 61 for water tanks.
• Strong communication skills.

• Experience with composite materials like carbon fiber and fiberglass.
• P.Eng certification is preferred.
• Experience with alloy materials.

The position is based at the South Edmonton Head Office. The manufacturing facility is located on the east side, where most of the training will occur. The team structure includes a team lead and a small team of 5-6 people. The office environment encourages growth in a public company setting.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
