JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties & Responsibilities
Identify and assess customer issues through internal and external interactions, and propose effective engineering solutions.
Develop new product specifications to complement existing product lines for assigned projects, and engineer designs accordingly.
Create and manage project schedules and budgets, ensuring adherence to established timelines and cost parameters.
Ensure all engineering work complies with Hydra Rig's standard practices and procedures.
Execute mechanical design assignments with general direction, demonstrating discretion and technical judgment in the following areas:
Mechanical components and mechanisms
Structural systems
Hydraulic systems and controls
Electrical systems and controls
Tooling and fixtures
Integration of third-party components
Generate and maintain complete drawing packages for new products and product line extensions, including optional configurations and accessories.
Design products in compliance with third-party certification standards, preparing design calculations and supporting documentation as needed.
Collaborate with Purchasing to identify qualified vendors for components and processes beyond current internal capabilities.
Act as a liaison across departments to facilitate successful project execution.
Partner with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and external vendors to ensure components meet design specifications and quality standards.
Validate that new products are thoroughly tested and meet or exceed defined performance specifications and design criteria.
Document and disseminate both product-specific and general Hydra Rig design methodologies.
Develop content for equipment operation manuals based on engineered designs.
Provide advanced engineering support for legacy products, previous projects, and warranty cases.
Work with Technical Support, Field Service, and Repair teams to resolve customer issues and provide technical guidance.
Contribute to the development and protection of intellectual property, including trade secrets and patents.
Escalate complex or out-of-scope issues to the appropriate supervisor.
Adhere to all engineering department policies, procedures, and best practices.
Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and safety/environmental standards.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience Required
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical system design.
Proven experience in 3D structural design and analysis.
Strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems and controls.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred but not mandatory.
Familiarity with standard manufacturing processes and practices.
Experience in product development, especially in the Oil & Gas or mobile equipment industry, is highly desirable.
