Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.Position Overview:The Senior Estimator position provides effective estimating analysis to the affiliated division's estimating group through all aspects of the estimating life cycle. This position is accountable for the development and submission of detailed and accurate estimates, providing guidance/peer checks to other estimators, and supporting post-bid submission customer requirements.Work with a close-knit, proactive team as you help drive the department's business goals. If you also value integrity, quality, and executing thorough precise work, this could be the perfect environment for you!Location & Travel:Office assignment: Office environment preferred with flexibility to work from home when appropriate.Occasional travel as necessary to other offices or yard locations, trainings, and offsite meetings.Additional customer related travel may also be required at customer facilities.Responsibilities:Abide by bid and project delivery processWork with the Estimating Project Administrator to upload project documents to ShareFile for vendors/subcontractorsReview all contract documents to become familiar with project requirements and obligations under the contract and apply to pricing (schedule, specifications, drawings, safety manual, etc.), reviewing documents for accuracy and consistency.Work with the Estimating Project Administrator to submit RFIs for estimating questions by deadlinePerform material take offObtain vendor and subcontractor quotes and evaluate for completeness and best price for use in bid (Abide by our purchasing policy and ethics)Distribute qualification documents as required for the bid (MBE, WBE, experience, key individuals, etc.)Participate in the estimate review process with internal and external stake holdersPrepare and/or provide input for customer required deliverables (schedule, proposal letter, etc.)Prepare award documents for review to be submitted by deadline.Identifyareas of importance (milestones, LDs, etc.) of a project and relay to PM and/or Regional Director.Identify possible change orders and relay to PM.Review purchase orders, subcontracts, and contracts for accuracy.Assure complete and thorough pre-construction planning and distribution of all documents in accordance with the project delivery process.Facilitate a scope review with the PM; assist construction personnel at the onset of the project life cycle in tracking and understanding basis and approach to the cost estimate.Attend pre-construction/project meetings.Attend a Post Construction Meeting at the end of the project to provide lessons learned in the estimating process.Participate in weekly estimating/level 10 meetings.Participate in monthly safety meetings.Desired Qualifications:Required:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or other related field or comparable equivalent of education and work experienceFive years or more related experience in Electric construction industry performing cost estimates and estimating knowledge of electrical industry.An acceptable combination of education and work experience, validating estimating skill level.Other:Valid Driver's License required to operate company or personal vehicle for company business.Must be able to present acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorizations per the Federal I-9 requirement.Desired:Knowledge of general construction practices.Knowledge of the National Electric Code and NFPA 70E.Knowledge of Microsoft Projects and/or Primavera a plus.Why Wor for IB Abel?IB Abel's 110-year history is a testament to its adaptability, forward-thinking leadership, commitment to safety, and stellar service and project delivery process.
