Painter

Under the direction of the Manager for the ERS/Carpenter/Paint Shop, perform a variety of duties including painting wall covering, staining and similar activities throughout Baystate Medical Center. **Job Responsibilities:** **1)** Work from Work Orders, specifications, drawings, prints and instructions. Prepare surfaces such as walls, partitions, floors, ceilings and furniture according to standard procedures. Remove old finishes and make necessary repairs to surfaces. Mix and blend paints to obtain desired color. Apply paint and other finishes by appropriate methods such as brush, roller and spray gun. Perform touch-up painting to marred surfaces as directed. Apply wall covering as directed. Refer unusual cases or problems to coordinator. **2)** Estimate supplies and equipment. Prepare surface to accept new wall cover. Measure, cut and past according to prescribed procedure. Refer unusual cases or problems to manager. **3)** Perform other painting duties such as paint traffic control lines, parking lanes, outside signs, posts and similar items. **4)** Prepare and maintain required records of time, materials and supplies. Order materials and supplies as needed. **5)** Work with other trades personnel as directed. **6)** Maintain work areas and equipment in a safe, neat and orderly condition. **Required Work Experience:** **1)** 3 years experience as a painter **Preferred Work Experience:** **1)** Masonry, taping, commercial paper hanging, plastering preferred **Skills and Competencies:** **1)** Basic computer and math skills **2)** Ability to read, write and speak English **3)** Ability to work with minimum supervision **You Belong At Baystate** At Baystate Health we know that treating one another with dignity and equity is what elevates respect for our patients and staff.
