Truck Mechanic Job Description As a Truck Mechanic, you will be responsible for executing major repairs including engine, transmission, accident damage, and rear end issues within our transportation truck shop. You will perform essential maintenance tasks to ensure a fully functional and operational transportation fleet. Responsibilities Perform all major preventive maintenance, major component rebuilds, and interpret shop materials. Conduct repairs and maintenance on refrigeration equipment as needed. Repair major structural damage to trailers, refrigeration systems, and internal engine components. Execute welding functions as necessary. Carry out basic service line functions such as checking tire air pressure and changing lights. Perform minor tune-ups and solve electrical and brake problems. Conduct compressor preventive maintenance for refrigeration systems. Repair all tractors (excluding rebuilds), warehouse equipment, external components, minor trailers, and external engines. Continuously seek efficient methods to reduce costs and improve labor productivity. Recommend modifications to procedures or processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost reduction. Ensure compliance with company standards in accuracy, safety, and productivity. Essential Skills Proficiency in diesel troubleshooting. Experience in repairing engines, replacing brakes, and tires. Skill in working on trailers and engines for 18-wheelers. Ability to repair and maintain refrigeration units on trucks. Competency in welding and body repair. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is a non-climate controlled truck shop, equipped with heaters in the winter and fans in the summer. Shift options include 2nd shift (Sun-Thurs, Mon-Fri, Tues-Sat from 1pm-9:30pm) and 3rd shift (9pm-5:30am). Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
