Millwright Job Description A tradesman engaged with the erection of machinery, including tasks such as leveling, aligning, and installing machinery on foundations or base plates, and setting, leveling, and aligning electric motors or other power sources such as turbines with the equipment. The role involves working with steel and often requires the combination of skills from other mechanical trades to successfully install industrial machinery or assemble machines from prefabricated parts. Millwrights must be able to read blueprints and other schematics to aid them in the construction of complex systems. Responsibilities Disassemble and assemble machinery with personal hand tooling. Operate machinery rigging equipment and tooling such as dollies, jacks, lift trucks, scissors lifts, and other powered material handling equipment. Read blueprints, schematics, and other technical documents to execute floor layouts and set equipment elevations from provided drawings. Understand and work on complex material handling systems, equipment, motors, and their alignment. Use alignment and leveling tooling such as Brunson, K&E, Rotalign and others. Work Environment Work during night shifts at a manufacturing plant, specifically assembling flexible duct work in a BMW manufacturing facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract-to-hire position based out of Davidson, North Carolina. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
