A Heavy Equipment Mechanic will perform journeyman mechanic work diagnosing and repairing trucks and heavy equipment. The location of this Heavy Equipment Mechanic position is at the Richard Hansen Public Works Complex off of Midway Road in Duluth, MN near Pike Lake.

- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Graduation from a vocational training program in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment mechanics or equivalent program; OR, three (3) years of full-time paid verifiable experience as a heavy equipment mechanic; OR equivalent training and experience as determined by the director of human resources.
- Possession of a valid Class D license with the ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a tank vehicle endorsement and without any of the following restrictions within twelve (12) months of employment: air brake, full air brake, manual transmission, or tractor trailer. Failure to obtain the appropriate Class A license within twelve (12) months will result in termination from the position.
- Possession of MN DOT Commercial Vehicle Inspector certification within twelve (12) months of employment. Failure to obtain the MN DOT Commercial Vehicle Inspector certification within twelve (12) months will result in termination from the position.
