Vaco has partnered with a construction company in Louisville looking for Senior Estimator to join their team!
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Estimate Preparation:

    • Develop detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
    • Interpret architectural and engineering plans, project specifications, and other documentation to identify project requirements.
  2. Bid Management:

    • Lead the preparation of competitive bid proposals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements.
    • Review and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids for inclusion in the final proposal.
  3. Collaboration:

    • Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients during the pre-construction phase.
    • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure alignment with project goals and budgets.
  4. Market Analysis and Cost Research:

    • Research and analyze market trends, material costs, and labor rates to maintain up-to-date pricing information.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to negotiate favorable terms.
  5. Project Risk Assessment:

    • Identify potential project risks and provide mitigation strategies.
    • Evaluate project timelines and resource requirements to ensure feasibility.
  6. Leadership and Training:

    • Mentor and guide junior estimators, providing technical expertise and support.
    • Lead estimation meetings and coordinate efforts across departments.
  7. Reporting and Documentation:

    • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management and clients.
    • Maintain comprehensive records of all estimates, bids, and supporting documentation.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
    • Proven expertise in estimating for [specific project types, e.g., commercial, residential, or industrial construction].
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in construction estimation software (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, PlanSwift).
    • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and labor costs.
    • Advanced knowledge of contract types, procurement strategies, and project delivery methods.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client and team interactions.
    • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
