Plans, performs, and delegates installation, testing, inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair duties involving electric lights, power distribution circuits, controls, and appliances throughout the Orlando Health facilities.

Essential Functions
• Receives and reviews work orders and makes assignments to electricians.
• Collaborates with other members of the Engineering staff as required.
• Coordinates schedules and projects with the Engineering Supervisor.
• Estimates time and materials and obtains necessary permits as required.
• Creates daily work schedules for electricians.
• Calls outside contractors and vendors as needed to maintain the electrical system.
• Orders necessary stock and makes emergency repairs without prior approval.
• Coordinates annual testing of all high voltage switchgear and feed circuits to conform to all regulatory requirements.
• Keeps number of electrical outages to a minimum and keeps affected departments informed of any outages.
• Determines backup emergency power needs.
• Determines appropriate times for testing emergency power systems and works with Maintenance Mechanics to perform required testing of the emergency generator system.
• Actively participates in the implementation and ongoing evaluation of preventive maintenance systems.
• Works closely with the Engineering Director to provide for the electrical safety of all patients, visitors, and staff through an appropriately and safely maintained plan and environment as prescribed in the Florida Electrical Code and NFPA Code requirements.
• Maintains facility power distribution systems, mechanical alarm and medical gas alarm systems.
• Repairs electric motors, controllers and other auxiliary electrical devices.
• Installs new wiring and electrical machinery.
• Works from prints and diagrams to determine layout, location, and specifications of items to install.
• Bends and installs conduit.
• Installs concealed wiring.
• Isolates and repairs defective circuits as required.
• Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition following prescribed safety regulations.
• Assists the fire alarm testing company as needed to maintain facility fire alarm system.
• Able to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Able to maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

• Maintains professional appearance at all times. Participates in scheduled department meetings.
• Maintains the confidentiality and security of all data and information relating to the facility, medical staff and patients.
• Abides by all relevant facility policies and procedures.
• This position requires training in the following areas: blood-borne pathogens, fire safety, right-to-know, chemical hygiene, and
infection control.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education/Training
High school graduate or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification
Journeyman Electrician license issued by the State of Florida or Orange County – renewed biannually.
Valid Florida driver’s license with no more than six (6) points, at least 21 years of age, and must be insurable under the Orlando
Health insurance carrier’s requirements and standards.
Experience
Five (5) years’ experience as an Electrician.
