The City of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome an Equipment Operator I to the Signs & Markings team! As an Equipment Operator I with this team you will, construct and maintain traffic sign and markings infrastructure for the City's Public Works Department.

    Job Type: Full-time; non-exempt
    Hiring Range: $21.78 - $26.14
    Work Schedule: Schedule is generally 6:30AM - 5:00PM. Either Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday depending on crew assignments after hire. This position requires that you are available for emergency callout.

    As an Equipment Operator for the Signs & Markings team, you will:
    • Install signs and markings, using various equipment and hand tools, in compliance with federal standards
    • Use Cartegraph to review work orders
    • Coordinate with supervisors, traffic technicians, and other departments to support signs and markings needs
    • Transport materials and equipment to and from maintenance and construction sites
    • Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment
    • Apply chemicals, abrasives, and other ice control products
    • Snow and Ice Control Operations along with other emergency response as needed for different events (Snow, rain, hail, wind, fire, etc.)
    • Maintain log and record books
    • Perform manual labor such as cleaning culverts, mowing, patching potholes, and shoveling asphalt

    We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

    Knowledge of:
    • Pertinent federal, state, and local guidelines and standards

    Ability to:
    • Safely operate a variety of equipment and hand tools
    • Safely operate assigned vehicle
    • Communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
    • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
    • One year of professional and full-time experience in a related field
    • Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado drivers license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
    • Possess or willingness to obtain within 12-months of hire, a valid non-probationary Colorado CDL Class B driver's license not subject to restrictions and ability to maintain this status throughout employment
