Job Type: Full-time (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Travel: 50-65%

POSITION SUMMARY

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for managing building projects and supervising the day-to-day activities involved with constructing a new structure. They assess the resources needed to complete a construction project and generate cost estimates to help set the project budget. Construction Superintendents manage the general construction staff, hiring specialists, delegating tasks to team members and creating the staff schedule. They observe all activities on a construction site and maintain a site log that explains what was accomplished and where the construction team needs to resume the next workday.

Essential Functions Statement(s):

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day operations on construction sites to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Assess resource needs and coordinate the procurement of labor, materials, and equipment for assigned projects.
  • Generate accurate cost estimates to assist in setting and managing project budgets.
  • Supervise and direct general construction staff and subcontractors, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to project specifications.
  • Hire, coordinate, and manage specialists and subcontractors as needed for specific phases of construction.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to team members and monitor progress to maintain project schedules.
  • Maintain a detailed site log documenting daily activities, progress, and issues, as well as noting next steps for continuity.
  • Enforce compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and building codes throughout all phases of construction.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and inspectors to resolve issues and ensure project objectives are met.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

Experience: As a supervisory position, Construction Superintendent candidates should have years of previous experience in the construction industry. Previous managerial experience on a construction team is also beneficial.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Word and Excel; and customized software. Ability to learn and adapt to changing technologies as the organization changes.
