DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY: The facilities team provides a safe, comfortable healing environment for our patients, visitors and caregivers by keeping the facility in peak operational condition.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Supervisory position is responsible for general supervision of Facilities caregivers and daily operations throughout the facilities department. This position directly manages Engineer caregivers in the Facilities Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Assist the Manager in the completion of recognized tasks at all assigned locations.

Assist other Facilities Supervisors as needed to meet the synergistic goals of the whole team.

Provide for the safety, security and comfort of the occupants of the facilities.

Maintain all equipment assigned to the department.

Operate the hospital's utility, energy, and life safety systems.

Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all facilities-related equipment, systems, and infra-structure, to ensure maximum reliability and efficiency at all times.

Troubleshoots and corrects any problems discovered, calls in and coordinates work of specialized contractors to correct problems outside the abilities of plant engineering.

Respond to fire alarms and code calls in accordance with established work instructions, perform security functions as needed. Participate in disaster and other drills.

Assist with snow removal when adverse conditions dictate.

Perform customer-initiated work requests such as assembling components, installing furniture, responding to hot/cold calls, installing new equipment, assisting with project-related work, repairing/installing molding and trim, assist with set-ups and removal of equipment, and office furniture.

Provide general oversight for the work order and Preventative Maintenance program for the site to include insuring that all work is completed as scheduled and writing or closing work-orders and preventative maintenance schedules.

Provide leadership to the hospital's Facilities staff to ensure an uninterrupted, efficient and safe, generation and delivery of all utilities to the hospital. Provide oversight of Life Safety systems and procedures.

Assist the Manager in compliance with state and federal operational, environmental and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission and other AHJ's (DEQ, City Fire, etc.).

Provide assurance of the staff schedule, to include adequate shift coverage is provided and approving any requests for time off. This may include approving caregiver timecards if necessary.

Assist the Manager with budgeting, long-range planning, and contract and asset management for facility and utility needs.

Perform Merit check-ins and assists with annual caregiver reviews.

Responsible for budget development, regular monitoring, accountability and meeting all operational targets for all areas within span of control

Hires, directs, coaches and monitors the performance of all direct reports, to develop and maintain a high performance team that meets organizational and department goals

Monitors and ensure all direct reports are current with compliance and safety requirements. Implements and manages all organizational safety directives and goals

Provides and oversees team's delivery of customer service in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient and accurate.

Collaborates with teams to review processes and identify/implement opportunities for improvements, applying Value Improvement Practice concepts and tools.

Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization in all respects.

Supports Value Improvement Practice (VIP- Lean) principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change.

Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests.

EDUCATION:

Required: High school diploma or GED

Preferred: College or trade school level coursework in an engineering, management or applicable field preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

Required: Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements.

Preferred: Electrical or plumbing license.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Two years healthcare related experience or two years of combined maintenance, purchasing, finance, coordination, scheduling, routine executive interaction, process improvement, or supervisory tasks.

Preferred: Five years healthcare facilities or plant operations education and experience. Military or relevant trade experience in a healthcare setting may be substituted for some of this experience. Two years supervisory experience. Two years of experience operating boilers of 100 psi or above and/or chiller plants and/or six months electrical, electronic, plumbing, refrigeration work experience. Experience with electronic DDC controls and HVAC systems.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Continually (75% or more): Standing, walking, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 1-10 pounds, grasping/squeezing

Frequently (50%): Sitting, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing stairs, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 11-25 pounds.

Occasionally (25%): Climbing ladder/step stool, reaching overhead, Lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 25-50 pounds, Operation of Motor Vehicle, Use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level.
