This position is expected to start August/September 2025 and continue through the entire Fall term (i.e. through approx December 2025) or into Winter/Spring 2026 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team

Tesla's Power Electronics group is looking for interns to design and manufacture power electronics hardware for a variety of automotive and energy storage products including Cybertruck, Powerwall, Megapack and many other Tesla automotive and energy storage products. The ideal candidate will have outstanding academic performance and a passion for hardware design, proficiency with basis EE tools, and have a solid understanding of the theory and application of electronic circuits, magnetics, and capacitors.

  • Simulate and design power converters for use in automotive and energy storage applications
  • Assist validation and debugging for power converters
  • Collaborate with mechanical, PCB layout and firmware engineering team to successfully design, validate and manufacture power converters
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with high voltage (>400 V) testing
  • Lab experience with basic EE tools (Oscilloscope, Network analyzer, Signal Generators etc.)
  • Solid understanding of the operation principle of switched power converters
  • Familiar with schematics capture and power converter circuit simulation tools
  • Familiar with analog and digital circuit design and validation
  • Experience with Altium Designer is preferred
  • Experience with communication protocols (CAN, I2C, SPI) is preferred
