HVAC Technician Job Description The HVAC Technician role is focused on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across various systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area such as Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations, while being multi-skilled in others to fulfill daily and weekly work assignments. Responsibilities Perform maintenance and repairs on Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems to meet applicable standards. Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, and general maintenance. Clean, inspect, calibrate, and change parts to maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimum performance levels. Record readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment. Comply with departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials, maintaining a clean and safe workplace. Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory. Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors. Essential Skills 2 years or more of commercial HVAC experience in troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance. EPA Universal Certification. Knowledge of BMS systems, particularly ALC or Automated Logic. Additional Skills & Qualifications Clean DMV/MVR record. Ability to use personal tools while on contract. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment includes assignments at different campuses located in Sunnyvale, Mountain View, and San Bruno, all within a 5-mile radius. The role requires commuting between sites using a personal vehicle initially, with the transition to a company vehicle once converted. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm, with potential for additional hours. Employees are expected to maintain their own tools while on contract. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mountain View, California. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $42.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
