HVAC Apprentice Job Description We are seeking enthusiastic and skilled helpers to join our team as HVAC apprentices. You will assist journeyman licensed technicians with the installation of heating and cooling units in commercial construction buildings, including hospitals, schools, offices, strip malls, restaurants, hotels, and more. This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in the HVAC industry. Responsibilities Assist journeyman technicians with delivery, installation, and troubleshooting of heating and cooling equipment. Cut Sheetmetal and perform installations as part of a team. Comfortably bend, crouch, kneel, and lift 100+ lbs as needed with a teammate. Verify possession of basic hand tools such as tape measurers, screwdrivers, channel locks, pliers, and power drills. Ensure timely arrival to job sites daily, with or without a driver's license. Essential Skills 6 months to 1 year of HVAC, Sheetmetal, plumbing, or mechanical/construction aptitude. Ability to use impact driver and basic hand tools. Familiarity with heating and cooling installation (residential or commercial) or mechanical experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Experience with compressors, sheet metal, refrigeration, control systems, preventive maintenance, and air conditioning. Valid driver's license strongly preferred, but candidates without one will be considered. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work alongside journeyman technicians on new installations in residential, multi-family, and light industrial buildings. Join a fast-growing company with approximately 50 employees ranging from journeyman to entry-level helpers. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with expected 50+ hours per week due to busy new projects. During warmer weather, hours may shift to 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. No personal protective equipment is required. Dress code includes jeans, work boots, and a work-appropriate tee shirt. You must have your own basic tool set, including wire strippers, a lighted level, screwdrivers, an 8 oz hammer, a drywall saw, a malco bit, a 4'' bit adapter for impact drill, a headlamp or flashlight, and channel locks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pella, Iowa. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $26.00/hr.
