Building Inspector III

Commerce City is hiring a Building Inspector III. This role is an excellent fit for someone with strong experience in construction, especially structural work, and a solid familiarity with building codes like the IRC and IBC.

In this job, you will do building inspections, help answer questions from others, and work with contractors, designers, and the public. You will also assist other inspectors, help solve job site problems, and ensure buildings meet safety rules and city standards.

Hiring salary is dependent upon experience. Hiring Range is $81,000.00 - $88,000.00 Annually

High School diploma or GED. Some college coursework preferred. Requires four years journey-level experience working in one or more building trades and at least four years of experience working as a Building Inspector I or Plans Examiner I or two years of experience as a Building Inspector II or Plans Examiner II.

Also requires one of the following:
International Code Council combination Residential / Commercial Building Inspector certification and at least two (2) other International Code Council combination Residential / Commercial Inspector certification in any of the following disciplines: Plumbing, Electrical or Mechanical Inspector or Commercial Plans Examiner.
State of Colorado Journeyman or Master Electrician or Plumbing license and two (2) International Code Council Residential or Commercial Inspector certifications in a discipline other than the license category.
State of Colorado Journeyman or Master Electrician or Plumbing license and two (2) International Code Council combination Residential / Commercial Inspector certifications in a discipline other than the license category.
State of Colorado Master Electrician or Plumbing license and one (1) International Code Council combination Residential / Commercial Inspector certification in a discipline other than the license category and one (1) Residential Inspector certification in a discipline other than the license category.

An equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
