Building Construction Inspector - Provisional

Technical work in the enforcement of construction projects for compliance with the County's construction codes, related regulations and Building Division policies. Inspects various projects and construction plans for compliance with current building, electrical, plumbing or mechanical codes. Work is performed within the framework provided by construction codes and Building Division policies and under direct supervision of an administrative superior. Performance is reviewed through oral and written testing, re-examination of plans, and results obtained.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of four (4) years of experience as required by the State of Florida (FS 468.609) in construction work as an Architect, Engineer, Contractor, Inspector, Electrician, Plumber, HVAC Technician or Carpenter.
Necessary Special Requirements: Must obtain a Florida Provisional Inspector Certification for the appropriate discipline within 120 days of hire AND a Florida Standard Inspector Certification for the appropriate discipline within 11 months of hire AND must possess a valid Driver's License in current state of residency and obtain a Florida Driver's License within 60 days of hire.
PREFERENCE FOR: Four (4) years of experience in the electrical trade (must specify on application).
Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Possession of a valid Driver's License from applicant's home state. Appointed applicant must obtain a Florida Driver's License within 60 days of appointment and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
