Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer specializing in Civil Engineering to oversee diverse projects from concept plans to construction plans. This role demands strong technical skills and the ability to perform all aspects of site design projects.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee design, construction, commissioning, qualification, and readiness workstreams for each assigned project.
  • Direct design and construction management activities including budgeting, designer selection, and design review.
  • Manage all external design team professionals from project inception through completion, ensuring thorough and accurate drawings compliant with established standards.
  • Review construction drawing documents and specifications, coordinating necessary reviews with business unit representatives and regulatory authorities.
  • Assist with overseeing relationships with local municipal authorities for project permitting and site improvements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current local and state standards and codes.
  • Develop site layout designs including grading, drainage, erosion & sedimentation control, sanitary sewer, and stormwater management.
  • Work within AutoCAD alongside staff engineers to complete projects within established budgets, deadlines, and agency regulations.
  • Design Soil Erosion & Sediment Control including stability calculations, Best Management Practices, swale design, spillway design, and determination of construction sequence.
  • Seek out, develop, and recommend improvements to standards, best practices, and technical guidelines.
  • Supervise technical staff on a project basis and review operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies, best practices, and performance measures.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree is a plus.
  • 7 years of related experience managing projects of various sizes and scopes preferred.
  • NJ Professional Engineer License required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and design software.
  • Strong technical skills in site design, public work, stormwater compliance, ADA compliance, water main replacement, stormwater calculations, HydroCAD, and StormCAD.
  • Ability to oversee design, construction, commissioning, qualification, and readiness workstreams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with stormwater management design.
  • Knowledge of local municipal, county, and state land use, planning, and zoning processes and regulations in NJ.
  • Skill in report writing and engineering road permitting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00/hr.
