Job Purpose/Summary:

The Hydraulic Engineer is a member of the US Hydraulics group and creates and maintains hydraulic simulation models of Plains assets. The Hydraulic Engineer works and collaborates with Operations, Engineering, and Commercial conducting hydraulic analysis and recommendations.

Job Responsibilities

Simulation

  • Develops, updates, and maintains simulation models using Synergi Pipeline Simulator

  • Validates and ensures the proper storage of the pipeline models

  • Runs and analyzes the simulation models to provide hydraulic recommendations

Transient Analysis

  • Analyzes transient scenarios and develops safe operating limits for the pipeline system

  • Writes and updates surge studies based on the results of the transient analysis

  • Works with Operations to determine acceptable paths forward to solve over-pressure concerns

Hydraulic Support

  • Provides recommendations for Engineering and Commercial in pursuit of opportunities

  • Troubleshoots operational issues on the pipeline systems

  • Works within the technical services group to develop operational solutions to various issues

  • Develops and analyzes energy saving ideas and optimization strategies

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering.

  • 1+ years of engineering experience.

  • Flexible, able to adapt to a change in work priorities and manage multiple projects with short turnaround time.

  • Cross-functional collaboration with others to identify solutions to problems while taking into account the priorities of all work groups

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrate guidance in implementing systems across a broad organization

  • Up to 10% travel to field locations and Operations Control in Midland, Texas

  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks

  • Compliance with the Companys drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Synergi Pipeline Simulator

  • Pipeline Engineering or Operations support experience

  • Knowledge of pumps/valves/surge mitigation systems
