Overview:
BIE DSFM Construction is seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer (SME III) to lead the design, renovation, and construction of complex facility systems. This role involves managing mechanical engineering projects, reviewing system designs, and ensuring compliance with federal safety and building standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and approve mechanical system designs (HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, etc.).
Provide expert consultation on design challenges and regulatory compliance.
Use CADD and project tracking software to manage engineering tasks.
Oversee construction and renovation projects from preconstruction to as-built documentation.
Prepare and review project documents, specifications, and bid packages.
Administer or support contract acquisition for design and construction.
Evaluate mechanical systems for safety, efficiency, and code compliance.
Train school personnel on Deferred Maintenance Work Orders (DMWOs) in Maximo.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
6+ years of mechanical engineering and project management experience.
Strong knowledge of building systems, codes, and construction methods.
Proficiency in CADD, project tracking tools, and Microsoft Office.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
