DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Perform skilled carpentry work in the maintenance, repair, alteration and construction of buildings, facilities, structures and equipment; assure compliance with building, health and safety codes, and standards. Construct, form, frame, finish, maintain and repair various items and woodwork such as partitions, forms, cabinets, doors, shelving, fixtures, furniture, countertops,
tables, decks, stairways, cases, scaffolding and fences; construct and maintain walls, floors, ceilings and roofs as directed.
Operate and maintain a variety of carpentry equipment including saws, shapers, routers, lathes, drills, grinders
and various hand and power tools used in the trade.
Prep interior and exterior surfaces for painting and wallpaper hanging; mix and apply paints, and other finishes using brushes, rollers and spray machines. Install and finish sheetrock and plastering as needed.
Install, replace or repair flooring materials - wood, synthetic, roll goods, carpet, seamless floor, ceiling grid, cove base, wall treatments - paint, wall covering, protective panels, edges, fasteners, and coatings.
Plan, organize and lay out assigned tasks; draw rough sketches, plans and working drawings of construction jobs; interpret plans, diagrams, blueprints, sketches, specifications, and work orders.
Participate in department-wide projects and assist other trades workers with maintenance and repair projects as directed.
May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Four (4) years of experience at the journey level in one of the applicable trades; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Personal driver license; class F or higher for Missouri residents.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree, vocational training, or apprenticeship.
Five (5) years of work experience in a healthcare or construction setting.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
