Concrete Finisher Job Description A Concrete Finisher smooths and levels poured concrete surfaces, ensuring a quality finish for various projects like roads, sidewalks, and floors. They use tools and techniques to create different textures and finishes on concrete, including spreading, smoothing, and applying sealing and hardening components. Responsibilities Smoothing and leveling: Use tools like rakes, trowels, floats, and screeds (both hand-held and power tools) to level and smooth freshly poured concrete. Surface preparation: Clean and inspect surfaces before pouring to ensure proper conditions for concrete placement. Formwork: Build, set, and align concrete forms for desired shapes and depths. Applying finishes: Use specialized techniques and tools to create different concrete finishes, such as broom or rake finishes, or apply sealing and hardening components. Curing: Monitor the effects of weather on the curing process and apply necessary treatments. Repair and maintenance: Fill cracks, patch voids, and repair damaged concrete surfaces. Blueprint reading and project planning: Review project plans and understand concrete placement requirements. Safety: Follow all industry and governmental safety protocols. Essential Skills Proficiency in concrete finishing techniques. Ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively. Understanding of construction processes and safety protocols. Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints. Additional Skills & Qualifications Possession of personal construction PPE (hard hat, high visibility vest, steel toe or work boots) is preferred. The team size varies based on job site necessities. Shift time is Monday to Friday, with optional work on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, or until the job is completed.
