HVAC Vents Retrofitted, Vents Installed, Drywall, Painting, and (Bethesda) image 1 of 2 compensation: based on estimate I need a retrofit project in my 1979 condo. I have several HVAC vents that are non-standard sizes, and I'd like to enlarge the openings slightly to fit modern, standard-size register covers. What I need: Cut drywall, ceiling, or floor around existing vents to enlarge openings Install new register boots (vent boxes) to fit standard vent covers Connect new boots to existing ductwork (no duct replacement) Properly seal connections with mastic or foil tape Mount new register covers THERE IS SOMETHING LIKE PLASTER OVER CONCRETE OR CEMENT OR GRANITE ON 3 OF THE WALLS WHERE THE VENTS ARE AND I WOULD NEED YOU TO LOOK AT THIS. This is essentially a functional upgrade no major ductwork, just improving fit and airflow. Some of the vents are set into materials I'm not sure about (possibly cement or granite), so experience identifying and working with those would be helpful. Photos available on request.
