Electrician Lead Job Description We are seeking a full-time experienced Marine Electrician Lead who will lead and be actively involved in projects related to upgrading and developing new electrical systems for marine vessels and floating structures, such as cargo ships, fishing vessels, barges, and tugs. The incumbent will serve as the Electrician of Record (EoR), taking responsibility for all assigned projects from the RFQ stage to the final installation, testing, and compliance stages. The role requires the ability to deliver projects that meet all quality standards and are up to par with client specifications, often under tight timelines. Responsibilities Lead and manage projects related to marine electrical systems for various vessels and floating structures. Serve as the Electrician of Record (EoR) for assigned projects, ensuring quality and compliance from start to finish. Work on a variety of electrical projects, including vessel shore power, alternative marine power, mobile crane electrical supply, hydraulic systems, communication systems, and terminal wide power systems. Undertake custom-built switchboard projects, such as elevator control panels, emergency switchboards, gangway controllers, and nozzle heating pump controllers. Ensure projects are completed to high quality standards and meet client specifications. Coordinate and execute on-demand and onsite projects, both port side and in deep water. Essential Skills 5 years' experience installing, maintaining, and operating electrical equipment aboard commercial ships like Tugboats, Container Ships, Catcher-Processors, and Barges. Experience in shipyard environments and adherence to industry standard safety protocols and OSHA regulations. Proficiency with lock-out, tag-out procedures. Intermediate to advanced understanding of electrical theory. Ability to use a multimeter effectively. Mathematical skills including multiplication, division, order of operations, and fractions. Familiarity with both metric and standard measuring systems, with the ability to convert between them. Ability to interpret schematics and circuit diagrams. Experience with 480VAC 3-Phase distribution systems, both grounded and ungrounded. Skills in basic load calculations and understanding of Ohm's Law. Knowledge in circuit breaker and cable sizing. Experience with electric motors and motor circuits, including design, build, install, and troubleshoot motor controllers. Familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and Soft Starters.
