Carpenter Job Description The carpenter is responsible for building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, and other items using a variety of materials, including wood and steel. This role involves performing all aspects of carpentry work, from rough and finish carpentry to steel stud and cabinetry installation. Responsibilities Build, install, and repair structures and fixtures using wood, steel, and other materials. Self-perform all aspects of carpentry work, including rough, finish, and steel stud carpentry, as well as cabinetry. Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors to complete projects. Use tools such as chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders for repair and construction. Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives to ensure structural integrity. Check work to ensure compliance with codes and specifications. Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment for precision. Install cabinets, molding, partitions, doors, and windows. Create structures for pouring concrete. Essential Skills 3-5 years of experience in commercial carpentry, validated with references. Ability to estimate height, width, length, and other proportions accurately. Capability to work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall. Experience in utilizing various carpentry tools effectively. Competence in reading blueprints and following detailed instructions. Additional Skills & Qualifications Reliable transportation to job sites. Ability to travel to projects as needed, including out-of-state and overnight travel. Experience in commercial construction and installation. Work Environment Work outdoors in various weather conditions. Join a team typically consisting of 6-8 members, with potential to work in larger groups of 14-16. Adhere to a dress code that includes steel-toe boots, pants, and necessary personal protective equipment such as hard hats. Work hours are generally from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with overtime as project needs dictate, sometimes extending to 10-hour days. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $39.00/hr.
