Overview

GFT is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our Transportation Team in Charleston, SC ! This role follows a hybrid work model , requiring regular attendance at our Charleston, SC office.

Responsibilities

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Preparation of Design Development Documents and Reports, Design Plans and technical Specifications
  • Direct and participate in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, storm sewer analysis, stormwater engineering design, drainage planning, and groundwater analyses.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using a variety of techniques and models (e.g., CivilStorm, GeoStorm, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, XP-SWMM, PondPack , StormCad etc .).
  • Analyze water quality data to include water quality monitoring plans and reports, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, BMPs, erosion control plans and other civil infrastructure design.
  • Analyze and interpret data and prepare written reports
  • Ability to interact with our clients and work on cross-functional teams
  • Assist with oversight of team members and client management.
  • Formulate and solve problems
  • May design a complete project , or system component, and prepare complete project documents
  • Assist with ensuring that project documents are consistent with project plans and within project scope and budget

Qualifications

What you'll bring to our firm:

  • B.S. Degree or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related Engineering field), with emphasis in water resources.
  • 1-5 years Civil Engineering and water resources-related experience.
  • Direct knowledge of permitting requirements for SCDOT/SCDES/USACE preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hydrology and open channel hydraulics.
  • Knowledge/experience in Stormwater Management
  • Proficiency in Hydrologic computer modeling
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
