Overview

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking Structures Estimators in St. Joseph, MO to join our team. This role is crucial in preparing accurate cost estimates, scopes, and proposals for public and private infrastructure projects, supporting our pursuit of competitive bids and negotiated work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in a team environment and with other estimators.
  • Participate in job walks, pre-bid meetings, and site visits to gather real-world insights.
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop accurate and competitive estimates for structural components.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for heavy civil elements including cast-in-place concrete, rebar, formwork, shotcrete, and retaining wall systems.
  • Develop cost breakdowns and pricing model using historical data, supplier quotes, and production rates.
  • Support value engineering efforts and constructability reviews.
  • Estimating close-out.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Four-Year degree in construction related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of structural estimating or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Proven experience estimating complex bridge and wall projects on large heavy civil projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Bluebeam and HCSS Heavybid is a plus.
  • Communicate professionally to all parties both orally and in writing.
  • Detail orientated and strong organizational skills.
  • Must work well in team environment.
  • Approximately 30% travel required.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
