The incumbent performs carpentry duties necessary to maintain exterior and interiors of Tinker AFB structures, to include installations , new construction, replacements, repairs and finishes . Incumbent carpentry duties include repairs and maintenance of equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions , doors , floors, stairs, walls, casings and trim made of wood. Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered and identify and reports safety, environmental and other work requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models or verbal.
  • Uses a variety of carpenter ' s hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments.
  • Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of workspaces.
  • Selects appropriate materials necessary for the Installation of temporary controls for safety and security.
  • Utilizes and interprets technical manuals, shop directives, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and specifications, verbal and written instructions.
  • Responsible for completing daily work order log documenting inspections, maintenance and repair information, to include work performed, materials used and hours worked on each assigned work order.
  • Interfaces with customers and responsible for customer feedback.
  • Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle.
  • Complies with applicable federal, state, United States Air Force (USAF) and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) environmental laws and c omplies with health and safety rules and procedures; performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
  • Incumbent will at all times wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined by position and duties.
  • Performs other related duties as needed.
  • Makes work assignment to ensure contract objective is a ccurate, timely, and cost -effective performance of w orking harmoniously with customers and fellow co-workers.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality of all Akima related matters.
  • Accountable for assigned tools and materials.

Qualifications

  • Must have a three (3) years minimum experience in general carpentry.
  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Must have a current state driver's license, acceptable driving record and proof of valid insurance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses/IDs/certifications.
  • Must be able to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to adapt to changes in technology and applicable facility/infrastructure codes and standards.
  • Must be familiarity with facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.
  • Must have the ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional & courteous manner in diverse situations.
  • Must be proficiency and possess the knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Must demonstrate a working ability read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5+) years' experience in general carpentry.
  • Must have carpentry maintenance experience in commercial, industrial and public facilities, preferred.
  • Must use manufacture publications, codes, regulations, and facilities as-built data to identify construction methods and materials required.
  • Must possess the basic computer skills and be familiar with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have military experience.
  • Must have prior experience working on a military installation.
  • Experience working on Tinker facilities is a plus.
  • Must have familiarity with military-specific facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.
