Job Description:

Whats the role

As an Instrument/Electrical Technician Maintenance Turnaround and Construction organization, you will be responsible for the following duties below.

Accountabilities:

  • Troubleshoot of both Instrument and Electrical Systems

  • Perform routine installation and calibration of both Instrument and Electrical Systems

  • Ability to Perform Preventive Maintenance and Reactive Maintenance

  • Access Instrument and Electrical equipment at both ground level and at elevated locations by walking up stairs. This could range from one flight of stairs to several flights on a fixed structure within an Operating Unit. (40 to 75 feet)

  • Access Instrument and Electrical equipment at both ground level and at elevated locations by climbing vertical ladders. This could range from small portable stepladders to multiple series of caged ladders that could be 150 to 250 feet high

  • Pull and push on wrenches to install and remove nuts and bolts. Wrench sizes vary from inch to 1 inch

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis

  • You must have at least 5 years maintenance experience in the Petro-Chem (Refining & Chemical) industry and have completed a 2-year instrument and electrical curriculum

  • Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent

  • Demonstrate high technical competence in DCS (Yokogawa PRM/Fisher Honeywell), Relay Logic

  • Working knowledge of pneumatic/electronic flow/pressure/temperature transmitters

  • Instrumentation commissioning and check out for projects

  • Work at heights and confined spaces

  • Willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and be on-call to respond to emergencies when required

  • Must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather

  • Must reside within the area or be willing to relocate

  • Using safe lifting techniques, able to lift and carry 20 kg from ground to waist level

  • Ability to work safely wearing a respirator or Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)

  • Willing to comply with Shell's drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures

  • Willing to work in a diverse and team-oriented environment

  • A condition of employment for this position is successful completion of a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, background check, driving record check and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs

  • Experience with HV transmission, Distribution systems including substation maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Experience with MV VFD's

  • Experience demonstrating safe work practices and compliance in a hazardous work environment

  • Experience performing Electrical maintenance and/or operations of Petro-Chem facilities

  • Experience in failure analysis and equipment reliability

  • Experience in conducting Job Hazard Analysis

  • Experience in obtaining and reviewing Work Permits

  • Experience in applying Lockout/Tag Out

  • Must have a valid driver license to operate a motor vehicle

  • Ability to lift and/or carry tools, transmitters, tubing thru , conduit, small motors etc. Weights are normally less than 50 pounds

  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled area, such as column platforms, pipe racks, Operating Units, etc. because 30% to 60% of an I/E Techs time is spent outside

  • Ability to work alone 30% to 60% of the time

  • Ability to operate motorized lifting equipment such as man-lifts, trucks, forklifts, etc.

  • Work 9/80 schedule, required callout and holdover response

  • Work with a safety 1st mindset

  • Weekend duty and scheduled O.T.

  • SOU training up to date

  • Abide by all procedures and policies

The rate for this position is $39.37. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, and internal equity.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.
