Job Title: Senior Structural Design Engineer
Job Description
Join our dynamic team in Orlando, FL as a Senior Structural Design Engineer, where you will be instrumental in shaping the success of our expanding office. This unique position allows you to work on high-profile projects within the Amusement, Entertainment, and Aerospace industries, applying engineering principles to custom operable systems. You will own your designs, take calculated risks, and utilize engineering principles, building codes, and client codes to create functional, safe, and economic designs.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective engineering leadership and structural design support on a project basis.
- Contribute to multiple project aspects including design, documentation, purchasing, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of mechanized structural systems.
- Offer work direction, technical expertise, and effective communication to the project team.
- Evaluate and vet ideas from other disciplines and high competency teammates.
- Utilize strong analytical skills to solve complex technical challenges and achieve ambitious project goals.
- Perform conceptual design, estimate weights and details for proposal preparation.
- Develop detailed designs using structural methods, software, building codes, and client specifications.
- Conduct calculation and drawing production, shop and field inspections.
- Stay current with engineering codes and requirements.
- Communicate with clients and develop design budgets and schedules.
- Monitor budgets and schedules during the design phase.
- Coordinate design team to complete the design and achieve project objectives.
- Actively participate in scheduled design reviews with contractor, architect, engineering consultants, and other project team members.
- Interface with other departments to coordinate structural systems with electrical and mechanical systems.
- Provide project status updates for Project Review Meetings and other company meetings.
- Interface with field personnel and purchasing to determine and obtain required materials.
- Assist in prototype development, implementation, and documentation.
- Assist in operation and maintenance manual production.
- Visit manufacturing/vendor sites to inspect and communicate expectations.
- Provide technical and media support, including writing articles for magazines and technical journals to expand company presence.
- Monitor project design costs and progress to ensure approved project budget and schedule goals are achieved.
- Drive continuous improvement by enhancing quality and performance in shop and field assembly, adjustment, function, aesthetics, costs, and maintenance.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical and structural design expertise.
- Fatigue analysis.
- Proficiency in mechanical systems and SolidWorks.
- Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software.
- Accredited undergraduate program with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- E.I.T. certification.
- 3D modeling experience.
- Knowledge of current codes and engineering requirements.

- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
- Skill in developing design budgets and schedules.
- Experience in coordinating design teams to achieve project objectives.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
