JOB DESCRIPTION:

General Information:
Job Title: Fabrication Estimator- Sales Person
Department: Fabrication Department
Reports To: Production Manager alt- Production Supervisor
Primary Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 6:00am- 2:30pm
Overtime: As required- directed
Location: Portland Fab Shop with some minimal travel to Job Sites

Purpose:
The purpose of the Fabrication Estimator is to solicit work, meet with customers, prepare
estimates- quotes as directed for Transco. This will involve working & cooperating with all
employees at Transco, Vendors and Customers. This position involves maintaining Transco
confidential information.

Description & Tasks:
Solicit projects- customers
Create bid files, organize & receive bid documents
Review bid documents for bid preparation
Review drawings, specifications & files to Estimate labor, materials & subcontractors to
do take-offs & produce complete Bids
Send out and get any necessary quotes on materials or outside services
Prepare final Bid Documents or Proposal
Submit Bids & Proposals
Follow up on Bids & Proposals submitted
Upon receipt of order- prepare New Job file with appropriate documents
Prepare Work Orders for New Jobs
Meet to hand off New Job to Engineering, Production & Quality Control
Prepare & analyze job costing as requested
Observe & prepare production rates to aid in estimating
Small Job Project Management as required
Qualifications (Technical, Skills and Knowledge):
High school diploma
5 years of related experience in the Steel Fabrication Industry
Ability to understand, read, write and communicate in English.
Computer Skills- Email & File Creation
Software experience in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook
Strong attention to detail
Understand various Steel Fabrication processes
Drawing and Specification reading skills
Estimating
Must have a valid Drivers License & Good Driving Record

Personal Characteristics
Must be dependable and have excellent attendance
Ability to analyze Bid and Proposal documents
Must be organized, logical & detail oriented.
Ability to work independently, be self-directed and work in a fast paced environment.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Ability to multi-task & meet tight deadlines.
Strong problem solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Basic finance, math and geometry knowledge
Must represent Transco with professional appearance & conduct

Physical Requirements
Ability to perform site visits
Must be able to sit for long periods of time

Training
Attend a minimum of 40 Hours per year of Job related training

Quality
Ensure that company quality protocols and standards are met.

Safety
Perform work in a safe manner, following all required Safety Codes and Regulations.

Meetings and Reporting
Meet as required to perform Job duties and functions
