Construction Inspector Intern Transportation Projects

David Evans and Associates Inc. (DEA) is seeking a Construction Inspector Intern to join our Construction Engineering Services team in Denver, Colorado. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated student pursuing a career in civil engineering or construction management to gain valuable, hands-on experience on real-world transportation infrastructure projects.
As a Construction Inspector Intern, youll work alongside experienced engineers and inspectors, supporting the construction and design of roads, highways, bridges, and accessibility improvements such as curb ramps. Youll play a key role in observing and documenting construction activities, helping ensure that work is completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with project specifications.
What Youll Do
- Support field inspections by observing construction activities and verifying compliance with plans and specifications.
- Document daily construction activity , including labor, equipment, materials, quantities, and site conditions.
- Assist with technical calculations and quantity tracking, using tools like Excel, AutoCAD, and/or hand sketches.
- Communicate effectively with construction managers, project engineers, and other field staff.
- Participate in design support tasks , such as developing plans for curb ramp upgrades and conducting assessments of existing infrastructure.
- Gain exposure to quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes, contract documentation, and construction standards.
What Were Looking For
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Associate degree in Civil Engineering , Construction Management, or a related field, and have completed at least one year of coursework .
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and terrain.
- Strong interest in fieldwork, construction, and transportation infrastructure.
- Proficient in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word .
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Clean driving record and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Prior construction or inspection experience is a plus , but not required.
