Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Project Architect to be base in our Chicago, IL office.

About Buildings + Places:

Our Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism and planning, landscape design, strategy +, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. This team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create. Our Chicago studio focuses on the Commercial/Corporate, Science and Technology, Transit/Rail, Aviation and Federal market sectors. We look to combine beauty, sustainability, resiliency, and innovation in our projects and believe these values can be instilled in any project regardless of size or budget.

Some of our recent projects include the Shell Technology Center Campus Revisioning, City of Chicago Joint Public Safety Training Campus, Illinois Autonomous and Connected Track, and a new corporate global headquarters.

Job Summary/Responsibilities: The Project Architect will provide technical design and documentation for a variety of interior projects. This role will be responsible for leading the development of all technical aspects and content of projects, coordinating work with all disciplines to ensure an integrated set of deliverables, and providing construction administration duties on projects of small to large size. Travel will be required. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead design, production, coordination, and architectural detailing as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Lead and assist in coordination of engineering systems with engineers and consultants; actively partner with Design Leadership to carry through design intent; and coordinate with all other team members on project assignments and documents.
  • Monitor the technical quality of the projects by enforcing the application of QA/QC process standards and requirements while ensuring that all statutory requirements for the project are achieved.
  • Develop and maintain positive client relations throughout the life of the project.
  • Communicate project status, design intent, construction updates, and other critical information in a clear and compelling way to the owner(s), consultants, and clients.
  • Perform field site inspections to verify and document existing conditions.
  • Lead construction administration efforts inclusive of reviewing and responding to RFIs and submittals, attending OAC meetings and providing site observations.
  • Coordination with building and permitting officials.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Interior Design, Interior Architecture degree from an accredited university or related field +4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in corporate/commercial interior design or interior architecture industry with understanding of workplace projects, standards, and practices.
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively in a cross-disciplinary team atmosphere and across multiple offices.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task work on multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong technical expertise related to design and construction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, client focused, and detail orientated.
  • Registered Architect/ NCARB certification.
  • LEED or WELL certification.
