Ohio Gratings, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our on-site team in Canton, Ohio. This role is responsible for estimating projects, performing material takeoffs from plans and specifications, and identifying bid scope.

Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong blueprint-reading skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and customers. The Estimator will collaborate closely with Sales, Project Management, and Detailing to ensure accurate and timely bids. Candidates should be highly analytical, comfortable diving into construction documents, and experienced in using Bluebeam or similar software for takeoffs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to determine project scope.
  • Perform accurate material takeoffs in alignment with bid documents and company standards.
  • Identify and communicate project requirements, exclusions, and conflicts between drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team and other departments to develop comprehensive and competitive project estimates.
  • Contact customers to clarify project details, resolve inconsistencies, and gather missing information.
  • Track revisions to drawings and specifications and ensure corresponding updates to estimates.
  • Utilize Bluebeam or similar digital tools to support the takeoff and markup process.
  • Apply appropriate scrap factors and identify necessary buyout items.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail and quality standards throughout the estimating process.
  • Follow company procedures and safety policies in all activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in engineering, construction, or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of estimating experience in construction or manufacturing environments.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction blueprints and specifications.
  • Experience with Bluebeam (or similar takeoff software) is required.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); AutoCAD and ERP experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.

Work Environment:

  • This position is 100% on-site at our Canton, OH facility.
  • Office and manufacturing plant environment; some exposure to noise, dust, and moving machinery.
  • Regular interaction with cross-functional teams and customers.
