POSITION SUMMARY:

The Underground Locator/Operator will be responsible for leading the directional bore crew while maintaining or exceeding requirements and standards of client, industry and company. This requires full knowledge and understanding of the scope of work and to perform the work with little to no supervision. The UL/O will be required to track production, properly markup prints, plan equipment and material needs. Occasionally, the UL/O may be required to temporarily stand-in as Foreman.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain a professional appearance and attitude that reflects the mission and standards of Heartland Tower Solutions

Comply with all company standards, policies and procedures

Lead others by example

Lead Directional Bore crew and assist training new hires

Read and interpret blueprints and permits

Adhere to all Federal, State, Local laws and permitting pertaining to each ite

Locate the bore path for the Drilling equipment

Perform daily maintenance on all ite equipment and vehicles

Ensure proper bore rig set-up, and fluid mixing

Able to properly attach product to be pulled in

Able to accurately operate DCI tracking systems

Able to locate and pothole necessary utility lines

Demonstrate good judgement in the field

Perform all duties adhering to company safety procedures and policies

Ensures all installation work is done according to quality standards, always complying with proper safety standards/procedures and work practices according to OSHA

Restore area to project requirements

Understand field prints to determine what work is to be performed as well as point out potential issues before and during work

Report project progress to the Foreman and relate the needs for the days to come avoiding delays of work due to lack of materials and equipment

Work in, on and around customer property while following company policies and maintaining the highest level of professionalism towards any customer and their property

Locate the bore path for the drilling equipment

Ensure proper bore rig set-up, and fluid mixing

Able to accurately operate DCI tracking systems

Directly responsible for all vehicles and equipment in their control

The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested by upper management of the company (subject to all applicable federal and state laws)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Able to climb poles and work from aerial buckets

Experience in Fiber outside plant construction or related experience, which includes experience in the placement of telecommunication cable (copper and fiber)

Ability to read and interpret construction prints, plans and specifications

Ability to travel for projects

Experience operating heavy equipment

Must possess extreme attention to detail

Able to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions

Ability to multi-task effectively and work on multiple projects simultaneously

Must have time management, planning, organizational and job prioritizing skills.

Ability to effectively utilize technical documentation and literature

Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to work in a team atmosphere

Must obtain an independent work style and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment

Must have basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Must possess effective written and oral communication skills

Customer Service skills

Must be able and willing to travel

Frequently will be working outside in conditions that include: inclement weather, heat and humidity, extreme cold and exposure to dust and asphalt

Intermittently working near moving mechanical parts

Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls

Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or craw

Frequently required to push, pull, lift, reach and carry objects such as tools, material and equipment weighing up to 75 lbs

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS)

High school diploma or GED required

Must have basic mathematical skills

Minimum of 2 years of experience locating drill string and running crew

Valid Class A CDL preferred

For-hire/chauffer's license required (or CDL permit required before starting employment, and must obtain CDL within 90 days of hire)

OTHER REQUIRMENTS:

Must be local or willing to relocate to this area

Must hold and maintain a valid unrestricted Driver's License and be insurable by Heartland Solutions' insurance provider

Willing to work long hours, weekends, non-structured schedule, overtime, etc.
